Deposition of magnesium and calcium causes scale formation that blocks internal space of fixtures and pipelines, coils of solar heater, boiler tubes, fins of and results in stain formation on fabric. Our specially developed water softeners are useful for eradicating harness of drinking water and inhibiting presence of unwanted scaling materials in order to guarantee higher heat conductivity and better functioning of plant.
Basic Structure of Water Softener System :-
The softening plant offered by Indian Ion Exchange & Chemicals Ltd is notable for its rigid construction and this ergonomically developed plant consists of single MSEP pressure vessel, stainless steel or FRP made vessel that contains MSEP or UPVC made frontal pipe of IIECL brand and resin with high acid cation exchanging capacity in sodium form. This high cation exchanging resin helps to remove vaporized ion links of magnesium and calcium present in water in order to produce standard grade soft water. The softener of IIECL brand is accessible in down flow and up flow model options. We also provide it in tailor made configurations with accessories like salt preparation tank and injection system to ensure higher flow rate. This plant can be obtained in automatic and hand operated design options.
Chemistry of Hardness Creation
The presence of magnesium bicarbonate and calcium causes hardness of raw water. The hardness caused by carbonate lasts for short period. These compounds are the outcome of the reaction between rain water or acidic water and naturally found minerals like limestone. As for instance:
Co2 (Carbon di oxide) + H2O( water) =H2CO3(Carbonic acid)
H2CO3 (Carbon di oxide) + CaCO3 (water) = Ca(HCO3)2 (Carbonic acid)
The perma salts or non carbonated salts are commonly referred as chloride or sulphate salts that also cause hardness of water. These salts are formed due to the mineral acids of rain water or for any naturally available acid. The matter that differentiates carbonate based temporary hardness from noncarbonated based hardness is the method of heating.
Ca(HCO3)2 + Heat = CaCO3+ H2O+CO2 +Co2
The non carbonate based hardness can be lowered by adding chemical or by adopting ion exchange method. The INDIAN Water Softener is the perfect choice for elimination of carbonate or temporary hardness and non carbonate based or permanent hardness.
The process of ion exchanging method adopted for water softening purpose involves replacement of magnesium and calcium with sodium in order to transform hard water into soft water. The presence of magnesium and calcium results in hardness of water which is lowered by addition of sodium. Though softening process is useful for decreasing water hardness, still it cannot lower the TDS.
As part of its cations exchanging function, sodium ion is given importance to sodium ion equipped cation exchanging resin. The strong SAC or acidcaion resin in its sodium form is utilized for the execution of this softening procedure.
The implementation of this softening method ensures total removal of permanent and temporary hardness of water. The water hardness reaches to ‘commercial zero’ – a term which was previously referred as French degree or English degree, though at present it is used to denote less than 5 ppm CaCO3.
